I was talking about my typing <sigh>, although I can still copy 20 WPM. Back
in the late 70s I really could copy well over 30WPM, but no more. I can't
write that fast and I make too many mistakes typing.
One thing about running much over the old 13 WPM, you can no longer copy
consciounsly. It's all hearing word sounds and you have to learn how to
spell all over again.
20 is far easier than 13 as it's more like listening to some one talk and
you can maintain continuity. I can't copy in my head at the slower speeds.
By the time I get to the end of some words I have forgotten the beginning.
It takes too much concentration which means I have to write it down. I
really need to take a few weeks and dedicate an hour a night just listening
to CW.
I was doing that out in the shop while working on the airplane, but having
sold the 751A, I need to get the old Hallicrafters station up and running
again. I have the Dow Key relay and a speaker. There is a Hygain Patriot
vertical (with 6 -meters) with the base at 32 feet and the cables are
already run in conduit.
Too little time and too little money.
