5/8wave on 2m is a 1/4wave loaded on 6m......(think about it...a 5/8wave physical antenna is 3/4wave electrical length on 2mtrs so it matches 50ohms....thus 3/4wave at 150 Mhz is 1/4wave at 50 MHz! :)
As long as the matching ckt is a coil in series with the whip, it will work....(some odd 5/8wave designs used a shorted stub or similar...these will NOT work...but most 5/8 wave antennas today are the series matched)

Subject: [SixClub] Mobile antenna question
I remember seeing something someplace that some type of 2m antenna
can be used somewhat effectivly on 6m as a 1/4 wave vertical
Does anyone remeber what type of antenna this was?
