With the length of a 6mtr whip (54 in or so max), a dipole will as short as a 1/4wave CB whip...
a SIMPLE 1/2wave dipole made out of #14 or #12 wire will be easier to handle than a Slinky antenna...
Too much bother on 6mtrs....where size is not an issue....on HF lower freqs, the Slinky can be beneficial in
shortening the physical length of the antenna.....but keeping the electrical length at max...
on 6 and above, the two lengths are not that much different to be worth it..
Personally, two 1/4wave whips on a mount used to make two HamSticks, etc into a dipole is the easiest..
I got the whips from RS, cut them down to resosnant lengths, got the mount from EPO in Houston for $7 or so...
and viola!! Instant 6mtr dipole...and one support can hold it all...and easily taken apart for transport.

>Just a thought here...if you are going to construct a portable 6m
antenna, I wonder if you could use a couple of the orginal steel Slinky
toys and make a dipole cut to 6m...it could be portable and adjustable as
well.
Wonder if something like that would work for 6m...I know it works on
various hf bands cause I own one (made by a handicapped Ham group in St
Louis.)
