Some more net info...
It's an informal rag chew net. In the event of a band opening it would
shutdown or move to a new freq. For the most part some locals are
trying to stir interest in the 6m band. And it's working......
My personal thoughts. I know for a long time out here when I asked
anyone about 6 they would look at me as if I had two heads. The ones
that were using 6m were into RC racing cars or flying airplanes. Sooooo
I for one am quite thrilled with the prospect of hearing ANYTHING,
calling freq. or not. I'm lovin it! AND, it is stirring interest and it
is dragging some closet sixers out of the woodwork. Also, I think there
a few of the guys may be running older rigs that only have a couple of
channels or so anyway. I myself will have only one channel if I can get
transmit working on my 1950's RCA Fleetphone ex-CHP rig. (Brodrick
Crawford remember him?) 52.525 is what's in it. And that's probably all
its gonna get..... Just think. possibly 60watts FM out of a pair of
807's on a single channel radio that weighs in at over 49 1/2 lbs. If I
can get my signal into Reno that would be about 1 watt per mile... If I
can get farther so much the better but for now I'd just like to hit Reno
if possible. If anyone has a carbon mic collecting dust in a corner
please send it my way! :-)
Enough of my rambling.
73' to all
