[SixClub] New Net, Poor freq. Choices !!!

What surprises me is a few are upset with the net on 50.125 but are
silent about the other net frequency of 52.525.

I don't think anyone is saying to abuse the call frequency when the band
is open by tying up 50.125 with a net. But it seems to me that a net
where you have a list of stations to call and regular check-ins seems to
fit the "Calling Frequency" definition. (i.e. stations calling other
stations and stations listening for other stations & creating activity
for others who monitor the call frequency to listen for openings)

If a net is called weekly, 52 sessions a year, probably about 70% of the
sessions are more will be dead band conditions and maybe a few distant
stations 250 -300 miles can check into the net. The key is what do you
do if the band is open?

If the net control station has E-skip he should not start the net or if
it opens during the net he should shut the net down. These are not "DX
Nets" but "Local Nets" for creating local activity. If the band is open
the locals will ignore the net anyway and work the enhancement. This was
done for years with the KAOS net out of New Orleans with check-ins from
Florida to Texas. So it has worked in the past and many stations enjoyed
the Thursday night activity. Could the net have been on some other
frequency? Sure it could but the benefits of having it on a frequency
where people listen helped more than it ever hurt.

Will there be some who think it is wrong? No mater where the net is,
someone will not be happy. So if someone wants to start a local net in
the South Texas area, I would be happy to check in. <grin>
