Sort of. Almost. But good enough. There's still some wires connected
to it at TB1...I wondered where that was!
It's perched tilting up out of the radio.
Now to start taking the bandswitch apart. Wafer by wafer. Lots of
pictures, lots of notes. Lots of labels.
While I'm at it, I'll
clean every wafer with Q-tips & DeOxit. It takes a bit of patience, but
you can scrub all the tarnish off. I use the
pure DeOxit in the little needle-tipped bottle. Soak a bit into a Q-tip
and scrub.
I had to almost clean out the top PA box to get access to unsolder the
connections to the bottom one. Specifically, there's a big
silver-plated open-air coil that goes across the box. I removed that to
get access to unsolder the three
connections down to the bandswitch. Had to make up a right angle
screwdriver out of a power-screwdriver tip and a
1/4" wrench.
The SO-239 was a challenging area. It will be even more challenging to
get it back together :).
