[SignalOne] Changing a PA Switch Wafer

All,
Since my CX7A has a burnt switch contact on 20M, I find myself needing
to get the switch out of the radio to fix it. Or do I?
I noticed that the PA shield case has two holes in it - matching the
two long screws that hold the switch wafers together.
It looks like it *might* be possible to just take out the wafer!
Steps:
1. Unsolder all the wires from the wafer. Possibly at the wafer, but
also
possibly at the other end - wherever they go.
2. Undo the central rotating shaft and pull it out. Mark the wafers
for position?
( there seems to be a circlip around the shaft. Maybe I get to take
it out by popping
that clip?
3. Undo the nuts at the back of the radio that fasten the two long
screws.
4. Use a long thin pin or another long thin screw as a "follower" and
push each long screw through from the
back towards the front of the radio. The object here is to prevent all
the washers and spacers from going bye-bye inside the radio. Push right
up to the offending wafer and STOP. We now have one long screw going in
from the back, and the other one exiting through the front ( of the
radio ). When the two screws are in
just the right position, pull the wafer out sideways. This should be
able to be done one long screw at a time. If I'm really slick about it,
no washers or spacers will fall out. Doubt that I'll be that slick.
OH, and might possibly have to remove the RF input card to give the
central shaft space to slide forward
towards the front of the radio. Unless it can slide back.
Anybody have experience with this repair?
