How long can I resist taking it off again?
I was just reading through all the Signal/One newsletters in
hamanuals.com.
I came upon this gem in the July 77 issue:
PROBLEM: Poor audio quality when RF gain is advanced.
SOLUTION: Not related to AGC! Condition is caused by too much 8.8Mhz
signal from the I.F. to pin 493 on A9, AGC board. Measured value in one
case was 450mv p-p instead of the proper 100mv. To reduce the value to
acceptable limits R19 was shunted with a 47-ohm resistor. The BFO
voltage should be at least 5 times greater than the detected signal or
fuzzy audio will result.
Wow. My radio has *exactly* this problem. But where is R19?
