Hello Fred,

ah6gi/4 here. A clarification on my CX7A. I've got it working EXCEPT
for the power amp. This is the one that has the 4CX350F. I have the
socket, BE block, and heatsink for converting it back to the 8072.

I just haven't completed the work.

Both PTOs/receivers work fine. The passband tuning seems OK.

The keyer works and I can hear myself on SSB and CW but the power amp is
dead. The transmit signals are very weak.

I was appalled at how hacked-up the power supply board looked but 0YVA
explained that was normal.

Normal?

"Yes, normal. Do yourself a favor and find a B power supply board."

Oh no, not another project.

My radio has an extra heat sink on the back for a low voltage regulator.

It has harness hanging out the back which I think might be for an
external powersupply for the 4CS350F.

I have not worked on the CX7A for a couple years but I do listen now and
then. I've compared it to my 75S-1, IC-720A, etc. and it works fine as
a receiver.

I have a very noisy place in the city, I'm about 2 miles south of the
Pentagon in Alexandria.
