Last week while working on the power supply board in one of his CX7s, a
fellow Signal One owner lost his power transformer. He called Peter
Dahl Co. and was told they could no longer build power transformers for
Signal Ones due to the unavailability of the core.
I call and talked to Gary to discuss any options we might have. He
called the manufacturer of the core and there is hope.
The same core is used in the CX7, CX11 and MS1030. The manufacturer
will make a minimum run of 6 cores.
The cost for a complete transformer is going to be $240. The cost of a
core will be $130.
If you have two or three different model Signal Ones you might want to
purchase a core and hold it for future rebuild.
If you have only one model you might want to get a complete transformer
as a spare.
Let me know if you are interested in getting either a transformer or
core. I will be placing an order by the end of the month.

The Signal One Users Group is still meeting Sunday on 14.270 + or -.
Band conditions have been very poor and it seems like there's a contest
on every weekend. Between the two, turn out has been VERY light over
the last month or so. Hope to hear you on this Sunday 1630Z.

The total number of existing Signal Ones in the Registry is now at 138.
Some information updates have been made to the registry but no new
radios have been added in a while. I'd like to think that more than 12%
of the original Signal Ones are still around but perhaps not. Maybe
there are still some tucked away in closets or under work benches.
