The first part of this is for Fred, K5OG. Don't remember if I ever forwarded my info but here it is. I have CX7 SN 0084 which was purchased new by Herb Widiger, W9IVG, of Berwyn, IL. I assume he bought the radio sometime in 1971 as the manual has a 1971 errata sheet in the front. I acquired the radio from Herb's estate in 2004 and have been working on it off and on since then. The unit has a B power supply board and some mods in it. I have done some of the mods described in the newsletters. I still have to complete troubleshooting low frontend gain which is causing agc adjustment problems.
The second part of this is for Bill, KA4GAV. I have only seen the power supply schematic from the newsletters but it seemed pretty clean and, I have found, accurate. The board layouts, on the other hand, though from Signal One, were pretty rough copies and I have done some fillin marking. Also, R27 was missing on the board layout. The schematic is the W8CXS/W1NXY version. The Thomas manual Herb had only covered the CX7/CX7A so still showed the original power supply schematic.
Hope to be able to start checking into the nets again now that hunting season is behind me.
