Pictures of the CX-7S and CX-11S are on the web site.
I have pictures of the MS-1030C(S) (?) of which Paul spoke. I'll upload
them tonite. It's VERY different from the other speakers. Externally
it's identical, but inside there's a lot of electronics, not necessarily
related to the speaker audio.
BTW, I have a CX-7S and a CX-11S, along with about 6 other speakers that
match their radios. Over the weekend I installed an audio patch panel in
the shack in an attempt to reduce the number of speakers. After all, how
many radios can you listen to at once?
I kept the CX-11S for the sheer coolness of having it, and an old
decrepit two-way speaker that I found in the attic of the house we
purchased.
I usually run my Racal 6790GM to the old speaker, which has wonderful
audio. But in the course of debugging a wiring problem I plugged it into
the CX-11S. Never in my life have I heard a worse speaker! I can't
believe how bad the audio is. All this time I thought my CX-11 had poor
audio, but it was the speaker. I'm going to have to delve into this and
see what the real cause is.
I'm not sure if my CX-7S is that bad. I'll have to try it out. It's
highly modified, though. I bought it from an estate, and when it arrived
I grabbed the box and almost dropped it. It weighed more than a CX-7!
Figuring the old geezer had stored his mad money inside it, I tore it
apart. Turns out that he had lined the inside of the speaker enclosure
with 3/4" plywood and foam to dampen the sound. I couldn't tell any
difference between it and another RS speaker I had been using.
The point to all this is that the Signal/One speakers, in my opinion,
are nice to look at, but you really don't want to listen to them.
