Thanks for the wonderful musings. I wish more folks would relate their
experiences with the Signal/One company and their knowledge of the early
beginnings of it. I know that I'd like to hear more of the history and I'm
sure a lot of other folks on the list would, too. The main reason I started
the S/O web and list was to capture all the knowledge and information that
Paul Kollar had. Too often information and knowledge dies with the person
and isn't recorded for future generations.

On the way to work I listen to a 2mtr net. For the past two mornings a very
old engineer has been talking about the collapse of the Tacoma Narrows
Bridge. He told how he was there watching it collapse and how his professor
was the one who went out on the bridge to bring the man in the car back to
safety. He discussed the building of models and the testing of them to find
all the failure points, and also the fact that the insurance agent who
accepted the policy payment for the bridge did not send it to the insurance
company. All sorts of information that has never been in print, coming from
someone who was involved in it. It was fascinating.

On the Mils-Spec, I remember having a long conversation with Harry Snyder
about 10 years ago when he lived in Phoenix about the problems with
construction/delivery and repair of them. He said that he had one and was
talked into "loaning" it to the company to make a delivery, with the promise
of a replacement (that never came).

OK, I've mused, who's next?
