hullo everybody --

      As I recall, this discussion of oscillator "levels" was
in tangential response to my initial questions about pto levels
on the cx7.

      I have been meaning to note that this pto is not "just"
an oscillator.  The circuit consists of a colpitts osc followed by
a buffer followed by an emitter follower.  So there is definitely a
possibility of output level variation.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule. But the reality is that
the crystal you mention is not getting "weak", it is being eaten alive,
and rather quickly. (Wonder why they did this? No real reason to run a
crystal THAT hard!!!)

For those interested, JAN Crystal can supply crystals for virtually any
circuit, if you give them the diagram for the circuit. Their prices are
very reasonable and they will do custom crystals. Just a note for those
who might need this "special" crystal. I hope the one in my 1030 never
goes...
