Just how do you capture SIDs?
First, perhaps, is to know what a SID is.
"Standard Instrument Departure" if you do some instrument flying. But that's not us.
"Sudden Ionosphere Disturbance" if you're interested in ham radio. That's us!
Changing suddenly, and of relatively short duration, the physical state of the lower ionosphere will affect radio-electrical emissions.
Capture it and substantially increase your signal value.
OK, that's 2% of the equation.
The other 98% is explainable and it will be done by Mark Spencer at the June 5 SIERA regular meeting.
With over 45 years as a ham radio operator, there's little in our hobby that gets by him. Mix in substantial time as a teacher and educator, add in the fact that Mark is the ARRL Education and Technology Program Coordinator and, for icing on the cake, throw in 20 years with the Air Force flying, among others, B-52's and U-2's. We end with a fellow of substantial knowledge, more than able to pass on that knowledge in understandable fashion.
Mark Spencer. June 5. United Methodist Church on Centerville Lane. 1 PM.
