Silver State Classic Challenge - Radio Volunteers NeededMust be Karma.....or something. Just as we have our July Newsletter about the Silver State Classis in Ely, here comes a request for "radio operators". While SIERA takes no club position on this event, we would be remiss if we didn't pass the opportunity to you, our valued members.
Comparatively, it's an expensive jaunt so is necessary to consider value vs. cost. Here's details.
"Silver State Classic Challenge - Radio Volunteers Needed
Greetings,
Most hams receiving this are familiar with this popular event. If you have questions, please send me a note or give me a call quickly. The roster must be set in two weeks. This is a fantastic weekend event for enjoying fast cars speeding down an open road and challenging your amateur radio equipment, and ham radio communication skills. If you are a rookie to this event we can team you up with an experienced operator. There are provisions to help reimburse some gas expenses for the trip to Ely and lodging.
If you live in Las Vegas, you most likely would depart Las Vegas Saturday morning about 7:00 am, arrive for the Ham Brief in Ely at 12:00 noon, then enjoy the other activities of the event in Ely. Rise Sunday morning to be on the course by 5:00 am, work the event from 6:00 to 2:00pm, (with no race delays). You may attend the 7:00 pm awards banquet at Sam's Town if you wish, reservations required, talk to me (It's a hoot). 100 Norwegians and their car are coming, Japanese and Germans press as well. Check the website for the Schedule of Events. Bring your cameras!
