Casting for Recovery


On May 30th fourteen courageous ladies recovering from breast cancer
ascended on to Pleasant Valley Fishing Preserve to try their skills at Fly
Fishing
and to catch the wily Trout. The ladies had a great time and most of them
caught some
fish.

Some of our SIERA Radio Club members helped at the Retreat by providing 
Emergency Radio Communication Services since cell phones do not work in
this area. 

A special Thank You to SIERA Members, Will Lewis KD7NIR, Phyllis Lewis
KD7OKI,
Don McRoberts W3DRM and Bill Massie K7NHP who provided communications
for the event.

The ladies and the staff really appreciated the fact that if there was an
Emergency situation at the retreat we had a way to communicate with
emergency
services.


We have two more events this year at Pleasant Valley. The fist one is
Reel Recovery on July 24th and 25th, which is for men who are recovering
from cancer. The other event is Reel Kids on Sunday August 17th for kids who
have
Cancer.
