Reel Recovery

On July 24th and July 25th eleven courageous men who are dealing and
recovering from cancer ascended on to Pleasant Valley Fly Fishing Preserve
to try their skills at Fly Fishing.  Most of the men had never had a Fly Rod
in their hands so this was quite a challenge for them to learn to cast, and
then to try to catch the wily trout. The two day event gave the men
something more to think about other than their sickness.

Some of our SIERA Radio Club Members provided Emergency Radio Communications
for the event since cell phones do not work in this area. The following
members  provided communications for the two day event.

All of the men and staff really appreciated the fact that if there was an
Emergency situation at the retreat we had a way to Communicate with
Emergency Services.

We have one more event this year for kids who have Cancer. The ages of these
kids will be from ten to sixteen years. This will be a one day event, which
will be held on Sunday August 17th.
