High Wind Advisory
649 am PDT Mon Apr 14 2008

...High Wind WARNING now in effect until 7 PM PDT this evening...

The High Wind Warning is now in effect until 7 PM PDT this
evening.

Southwest winds are expected to increase to 25 to 40 mph this
morning and continue through the afternoon and early evening.
Gusts of 60 mph or higher can be expected...especially in the
higher elevations and in wind prone areas of western Nevada. Over
the ridges of the Sierra...gusts up to 100 mph are expected.

These winds will also cause very rough chop on Lake Tahoe. Small
boats will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake
waters until conditions improve.

Damage to trees...power lines and property could occur with winds
of this magnitude. Unsecured outdoor items that could be moved or
blown over by strong winds should be brought indoors. Travel will
become difficult especially on Highway 395 and Interstate 80 due
to strong cross winds and possible local areas of blowing dust.

Check our website at weather.Gov/Reno or listen to NOAA Weather
Radio for updates on this situation.
