Have you ever wondered how they measure the snow depth and water content =
of
the Sierra snowpack as well as transmit that information from the =
mountain
back country to their offices for analysis? Come join us at the March =
SIERA
general meeting and listen to a presentation by the person who makes =
those
measurements possible. See below for details.

Dan Greenlee, Hydrologist for the Federal Government, is our scheduled
speaker for the March 15th general meeting. Dan will be bringing some of =
the
new equipment they are using, plus a snow tube used to measure depth and
water content of the snow. There will be about a 30 minute power point
presentation showing such things as meteor scatter, used to send signals
from the remote sites to Reno. Dan checks remote sites from Pickle =
Meadows
in the south to much of western Nevada. You see Dan on TV every winter
giving us snow measurements, now come and meet him in person and ask
questions you have always wondered about.

The meeting starts promptly at 7:00 PM

The United Methodist Church building
1375 Centerville Lane
Gardnerville, Nevada.

Come on over to our meeting, meet fellow =93hams=94 and have a cup of =
coffee
Everyone is welcome.
