Hello to all,

Glenn will be out of town Monday, Nov 27th, and has suggested that the DCART
Net be an exercise in traffic passing, following up on last week's DCART
meeting. Will, KD7NIR will be Net Control Nov 27th, in Dale's place. Dale will be
Net Control on Dec 4th for Will, who will be out of town that day.

The format for Nov 27th will be quite different, and this week's differences
will probably not be shown on the DCART web page.

1) The script will be as abbreviated as much as possible to make time to pass
traffic.

2) Check-ins will be called starting with Dale Anderson and cycling through
the roster. The purpose of this change is to rotate the order in which people
respond to the exercise, so the last people on the roster won't always be the
last to be called.

3) People who have not participated in the net for a while will not be
called. They should check in as late or missed members, and will be restored to
future check-in lists.

4) For Monday's exercise, check-ins will be given tactical names for the
purposes of passing traffic that night. For example, if Dale checks in, his
tactical call will be "First" - - if Dick Young checks in, his tactical call will
be "Second" - - and so on through the roster.

5) The exercise will use the ARRL Radiogram format, at least for this week,
including the Header, To, Text of message, and Signature. Net Control will
call "First" operator, pass the traffic which will be less than five words long,
and ask if "First" needs any fills. If no fills needed, "First" will relay
the message to "Second", using the ARRL format. Then "Second" passes the
message back to Net Control.

6) Net Control will then send a different message to "Third", who will relay
it to "Fourth", who sends it back to Net Control. I hope we can move along
and get to the last check-in, but accuracy of handling traffic is more important
than speed, and in fact, speed slows down the process because repeats are
more likely to be needed. For words that are unusual or likely to be
misunderstood, it is good practice for the sender to say "Frodo", I spell:
foxtrot-romeo-oscar-delta-oscar, "Frodo". Numbers, such as 39 are not passed as
"thirty-nine" alone. Instead, say "thirty-nine" I say figures three nine "thirty-nine".

7) Don't worry about creating any messages. Net Control will take care of
that, so just have fun and pass traffic. We'll find out how many messages can
be passed before 7:00 PM.
