Hello to all,
On Wednesday, May 31st, several of us were in the Austin area. The dirt road
to the "campground" above the Ranger Station and the dirt road up to Austin
Summit were as good as I have ever seen them. They were dry, but with enough
moisture to make very little dust. Two people in Austin said they got just a
dusting of snow on Saturday, May 22nd, and it was gone and dry by noon.
There were a few crickets at Austin Summit, more at the Smith Creek Ranch,
and a few patches on highway 50 between the Desatoyas and Austin. People in
town said a lot of baiting and spraying is being done to lower the numbers of
crickets this year.
We didn't get out east of town, so have no information about the Grubb's Well
area.
