Without further ado, accolades and kudos are due J.D. (AD7CD), ably assisted by Ed (KE7EAA). Proceeding on their own initiative, and in the furtherance of amateur radio in the Carson Valley, these guys arranged for and were instrumental in having a really fine booth at Lampe Park during Carson Valley days.
J. D. brought a lot of radio equipment for demonstration and prepared to operate by power as well as standby battery. He also purchased a very nice shade enclosure, had multiple literature pieces available and was readily prepared to talk amateur radio with anybody and everybody throughout Saturday and Sunday.
J. D. was ably assisted by John (NV7DC) and Gary (KD7LBJ), as well as Ed. There may have been others that I missed seeing during this tenure. If so, my apologies.
This was a monumental task, taken on in the interest of Ham radio in the Carson Valley. The booth was attractive and generated considerable interest by passers-by. The SIERA banner was prominent.
I know not if J.D. slept at the site. I do know he was there all the time. Most booth operators cleared out Saturday evening and didn't return Sunday, even though it was a two day affair. Not J.D.! He was there full time.
We all owe these talented folks a real round of applause.
