[SIERA] A bike ride

June 26th marks the running of the annual Comstock Silver Century bike ride.

This ride begins and ends in Genoa, traverses the highways and by-ways to Virginia City and return.  A longer piece continues from VC to Geiger pass and up Mount Rose Highway to Incline Village, over to Spooner and eventually returning to Genoa.

Communications remain a challenging exercise and HAM radio operators are the only ones capable of covering the entire route without interruption.  This will be an inaugural event for HAMS.

Radio volunteers are needed to assure the safety and welfare of the some 300 riders.  You can perform a service, hone your radio skills, enjoy some of the greatest vistas in Nevada and partake of the fine BBQ offered to the riders at rides end - yes, we've been assured we can cut the dinner line.

Prime radio locations (most at rest stops and aid stations) are available for manning.
