...Another low pressure system will bring strong winds...
cooler temperatures and showers to the area Thursday afternoon
and into weekend...
An unseasonably strong low pressure system is headed to
a position off the southern Oregon coast by Thursday. Strong
south to southwest winds with gusts to near 50 mph in the valleys
and 100 mph along the Sierra crest will develop Thursday afternoon
and evening ahead of an approaching cold front.
Rain will begin falling in Lassen County by late Thursday
afternoon spreading south into the Lake Tahoe area by evening.
Snow levels are forecast to drop to around 6500 feet Friday
morning in the Lake Tahoe area and northern Sierra. Several
inches of snow are possible in the Sierra above 6500 feet
Thursday night into Friday.
Motorist planning travel over the passes Thursday night into
Friday should stay tuned to the latest forecast and Road
conditions. Back country hikers and campers should also be
prepared for damp and cool weather with showers continuing
into the weekend.
