I would like to announce that Assistant Section Emergency Coordinator
(ASEC) Don Carlson KQ6FM has accepted appointment as Section Emergency
Coordinator (SEC) for the Nevada Section, to be effective Friday, September
10, 2004. As SEC Don will be responsible for the entire Nevada Amateur
Radio Emergency Service (ARES) organization within the Nevada
Section. Current SEC Dick Creley KJ7UK suggested this change because of
recurring health issues and the fact that Don has proven several times over
that he is up to the responsibilities of his new appointment.

Don brings many years of senior ARRL and ARES leadership experience to his
new job. Prior to moving to Nevada he was Assistant Section Manager (ASM)
and SEC for the Santa Clara Valley Section, comprising all of the
California coast from San Francisco to Santa Barbara. As Nevada Public
Information Coordinator (PIC), Northern District Emergency Coordinator
(DEC) and ASEC, Don has repeatedly proven to be an outstanding resource.

The full job description for Section Emergency Coordinator can be found at
http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/org/sec.html. Don and I have asked Dick
Creley to accept appointment as ASEC so we don't lose access to his wealth
of knowledge and experience. Dick has arguably contributed more to the
development of ARES within Nevada than any other single person within
recent memory.

In his new position Don will report directly to me and can be reached by
e-mail at kq6fm at arrl.net or telephone at 775-354-2788.

If you have any questions, please contact Don or myself.

73, Dick Flanagan K7VC
Nevada Section Manager
