Special Weather Statement
252 PM PDT Sat Oct 23 2004
...Significant precipitation and gusty winds likely in eastern
California and western Nevada early next week...
A strong area of low pressure over Alaska is expected to reach the
West Coast by early next week...increasing the risk of rain and snow
for eastern California and western Nevada. At this time...the best
chances for significant precipitation would occur from Monday night
through Tuesday night. Heavy mountain snow will be possible with this
system. Rain will fall in valleys with snow levels dropping near
valley floors by late Tuesday. Much colder air and a chance of snow
at all elevations will continue for Tuesday night through Wednesday.
Winds are also expected to increase as this storm approaches...with a
period of strong winds possible late Monday night through Tuesday
across the region.
Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio and other local media for further
details or updates.
