Unfortunately, the news is not good. The cancer has spread to my spine, liver
and vena cava, and also apparently to my left arm, although that needs to be
confirmed by a bone scan. The surgeon says that it will probably be
necessary to operate to remove the tumor from the vena cava. I have an
appointment set up for next month with the medical oncologist to decide what to do
about treatment. As you know, none of the options are very good. Sigh.
I was really hoping that this set of tests would be negative, so I'd have a
couple of more months to prepare for any surgery or treatment.

As you can imagine, I'm feeling pretty depressed. However, I'm still planning
on being back in Nevada for the January holiday party!

Hi Bob,

Thanks so much for coming out on the Ely trip and making it such a success
for 2 meter communications there. Mel says that it is against the law for the
Goshutes to prevent people from driving on the old Lincoln Highway through the
reservation. But those signs would sure scare me off, too.

Also, thanks for your great idea for asking the mobile units to report pony
position to the Team Chief by GPS position only, and let the Team Chief use
mapping to figure out what to report back to the hotline.

About the MRI results, we were worrying about you, and the news is not
joyful. But I guess If I were in your place, I'd rather know facts rather than face
a long period of uncertainty.

I notice that the information was not addressed to a list of other people.
Do you want us to share it with other people here? You have a whole bunch of
people here who care a great deal about you, and will be praying for you and
Merrily. Gary Budd and Bill Mueller were asking about you today.

We look forward to seeing you and Merrily in January, and 73 from all,

Will & Phyllis

Will and Phyllis,
You know that I really enjoyed the trip to Ely and the exploration in the
mountains! I truly enjoyed spend the time with you. I hope that next year's PEX
will be another resounding success!
I know that the MRI information is a bummer, and not what was hoped for.
However, I plan to be around for a while! I'll surely make the Holiday Party in
January and will certainly try to make the PEX in June.
You can share the information with the SIERA, CVRC and DCART mailing lists. I
promise to keep you up-to-date with what is happening.
We had Julie and Neil over tonight for the first night of my wake ;^) we
really had a lot of fun.
Cheers, Bob
