EMCOMMWEST CONFERENCE / RENO HAMSWAP
SET FOR MAY 22-23, 2004

Reno, Nevada, March 22, 2004 -

The combination of EMCOMMWEST 2004 and the Reno Spring Hamswap, is Set for 
the weekend of May 22 & 23, 2004. The theme of the conference, sanctioned 
by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), will be aimed at education for 
the provision of Amateur Radio Emergency Communications in the 21st Century.

Our weekend will feature many exciting guests and presentations, including 
Dan Miller, K3UFG, from ARRL Headquarters in Newington, CN. Dan's 
presentation will feature information on the Emergency Communications 
online courses, Levels 1-3, as well as an overview of how amateur radio 
will interface with The Office of Homeland Security. Also, Rick Lagerstrom, 
KN6FR from the Monterey Bay Area will present his highly popular and 
interactive "Eventing and Training" session, and a session with EMCOMMWEST 
founder David Thorne, K6SOJ from Northern California.

Other highlights include: Jerry Wellman from Worldradio Magazine, an ARRL 
Forum with many league representatives, a three-day "Fox Hunt" series, 
presentations by many "served agencies" along with numerous communication 
vehicle displays from clubs and agencies, including the new, 
state-of-the-art Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) from California.

The Reno Spring Hamswap, hosted by the RAMS Club of Reno, will kick off 
events on Saturday morning at 7 a.m., with space available for sellers 
starting at 6 a.m. In the past, this has been a well attended and fun event 
for all amateur operators. The combining of the two annual events will give 
amateur radio operators the opportunity to participate in a variety of 
activities at one central location. The venue will be the Fred Trainer 
Middle School in Reno.
