Special Weather Statement
1059 am PST Fri Dec 3 2004
...More snow expected in Sierra and western Nevada Saturday night
through Tuesday...
Another cold Pacific weather system from the Gulf of Alaska is
forecast to bring snow into the northern Sierra Saturday evening and
spread east and south across western Nevada and the central Sierra
Sunday morning. Snow amounts along the eastern slopes of the northern
and central Sierra could total up to a half a foot in the higher
elevations while an inch or two are possible in the valleys of
northeast California and extreme western Nevada by Sunday morning.
Two more weather systems tracking east from the eastern Pacific off
the northern California coast are expected to bring additional snow
to the Sierra with rain or snow in the valleys on Monday and Tuesday
as temperatures and snow levels slowly rise.
Persons planning travel across the Sierra Saturday night into Tuesday
can expect to encounter winter driving conditions. Stay tuned to NOAA
Weather Radio or your local media for further updates on this
developing winter weather.
