REPEATER OUTAGE
I have been informed by Wayne KD4ERG, Repeater Committee Chairman, that the
SHARC repeater went down yesterday, Thursday July 19th. After
troubleshooting the unit, it was determined that a failed RF module in the
transmitter section caused the outage. Although the unit is still under
warranty, it would have to be returned to the dealer for repair, a process
which could take weeks. To expedite the repair, the part has been ordered
from the manufacturer. It should be received next week, and the repair is
expected to be completed shortly thereafter, returning the repeater to
service much faster than had it gone back to the dealer. The anticipated
cost is less than $100.00, and the work will be done by skilled electronics
technicians, Bernie WB9NDG and Wayne KD4ERG. We're fortunate to have them as
members of SHARC and we're all looking forward to having the repeater back
on the air quickly. Feel free to use 146.805 as a simplex frequency (input
and output) until the repeater is back in service.
