Howdy members,
I had finally had enough of the extreme pain Wednesday afternoon
and I checked into the Holy Cross Emergency Room.
They ran a bunch of tests. EKG, blood work, and Ultrasounds.
They determined that I had a serious infection in my right leg.
DUH! I have been telling my Primary Care Physician and Vascular
Surgeon that for months and begging for antibiotics. Certain
proteins in blood indicate serious infection. Mine was double the
acceptable range. They prescribed 2 antibiotics immediately. The
good news is that the wounds have quit draining so much lately and
the pain is a bit better!
I have been able to change insurance companies with a much larger
network, a network that includes Holy Cross. It takes effect
February 1. I have an appointment at the Holy Cross Wound Care
Center on February 2! It just didn't make sense to have to drive
to Delray Beach. 21 miles, to a wound care center, when Holy Cross
is only blocks away.
Things are looking better and it looks like I'm in the hands of
some good providers. I will be getting a second opinion from a
different Vascular Surgeon and changing my PCP, since they ignored
my request for antibiotics, which are now making a big
difference. I should have received those antibiotics over 2
months ago, which would have made a big difference. They also
ignored my request for pain meds that would allow me to get a good
nights sleep.
With that said, I can function a bit better and sit upright at the
desk. I can continue many of the President's functions, that don't
require mobility.
