PRESS RELEASE December 16, 2025
INDEXA is supporting the KP5/NP3VI Special DXpedition to DESECHEO
INDEXA
is happy to be supporting this unique DXpedition to
Desecheo!
The INDEXA Board of Directors is honored to be
supporting this project. It provides an enhanced
method of operating from a DX location with
extremely limited normal access. It has become more
and more difficult for amateur radio DXpeditions to
get permission to land on and operate from many such
locations, usually due to environmental concerns. By
placing a fully functioning remote amateur radio
package with limited space requirements that can
operate continuously without the use of most of the
paraphernalia such as large antennas, generators,
fuel, radios with amplifiers, and not to mention
landing a full team and their needs (including often
extreme landing requirements using helicopters
and/or boats). We all know the difficulties. This
project could very well be the beginning of a new
alternative way for activating many difficult to
access DXCC entities and provide DXCC chasers a way
to work an All Time New One (ATNO).
INDEXA was approached by Otis NP4G in mid-December asking if INDEXA could provide support for this project. Since Otis is the President of INDEXA, he asked me to handle it for him so as not to be a conflict of interest. As such, I submitted the proposal to the INDEXA board of directors and was met with an enthusiastic YES. On December 16, the INDEXA Board of Directors approved a $10,000 grant for the KP5/NP3VI DXpedition project!
We wish the team a successful DXpedition project. I am sure that it will be a learning experience for them as well as for us. We look forward to hearing their full “post project review”!
