I'd like to have the new features & fixes in Win 11 but not
at the expense of more of their pushing our files to One Drive. My
files are MINE!
And I wish they would leave the GUI alone. I have 5 desktops and 3 laptops (yeah, really), all configured the same so I don't have to think about where things are, I just know.
One desktop is my XYL, just listening to her yell about the GUI
changes is enough to never upgrade. And of course it is my fault.
I have to ask why they are so intent on getting us to upload our files to their servers. And I don't trust t heir motives.
Shoving Copilot down our throats and increasing the fee to do so is another sore point. I know how to write a document. Maybe some help getting a spreadsheet to do something I rarely do would be nice but having the damn icon always next to the line I'm working on is annoying/distracting.
There days that Linux looks nicer and nicer.
BTW, I use LibreOffice (free) on some of the computers and it works just fine. Some things are in different menus but I've learned. Formatting in their spreadsheet is easier than Excel.
MS tries harder and harder to be Apple. Truly the Borg
collective.
My bitching session for today.
73, Rich
I cannot vouch for this but I've been hearing rumors...
I've learned to move very slowly when updating. My PC is not up-gradable so I am happy to extend if it happens. I am guessing not enough are switching to 11...
From another list:
"Info to those interested - Microsoft will begin offering a 1 year extension of support for consumers (Win 10 Home & Pro) after July updates. Need as MS account to get service. $30 for one year. Option to back-up your system to MS Cloud Back-up service will get ESU for free. You should be offered service soon with an update cycle if you use the MS account." - Joe W4RYW
