Rich,

I can hold the mic or phone in front of the radio. I could do it on the net or you can call me.

It is a continuous high frequency buzz. S-Meter reads S5 to S-10 (depends on the band) so weaker signals are over ridden. The IC-7610 and I assume the IC-7300 was a flashing "OVF" text meaning the receiver is being over driven (DSP's don't like that). There is also an occasional wide band pulse on the spectrum display.

The 7610's Noise Blanker does a good job of reducing it but I don't know how that impacts weak FT8 signals.

Since I work contests and DX where weak signals are what you are after this impacts my operating.

It's covering 160m thru 6m.

It's possibly Christmas lights but they are usually on timers and not on during the day. This so far is constant.

I turned off all the UPS', computers, TV, Laptops and circuit breakers except for the radios (they have their own 120VAC line and breaker as does the 240VAC amp, 2 lines run just for them) so the only thing on in here was the radios. My HF antennas are far enough away that RFI from here should not impact them.

Dennis has the same problem, he mentioned it Sunday.

If we had an HF antenna at the club station I'd like to know what it sees.

The question is is it local to us or something from further away. I don't see much change when rotating the beam and it there on all 3 HF antennas so it's not an antenna problem.

From a newb perspective any audio recording of this? Or does it just sound like dull static at a particular harmonic frequency ? Pardon  mixing any terms that may not make sense.

I just checked and it's still here.

I'm hoping to hear from some more guys, especially out of the area.

Interesting that it went away.
If you don't mind please tell those of us listen if it comes back

Hi Rich,

My Monday morning schedule with a group of guys in the Midwest was trashed due to the noise you described.  This was on 20 meters and was 10 over S9 here in Pompano.  I checked 10 through 40 meters and the noise was the same repetition rate and very strong on all bands, less so the higher I went in frequency.  It's has disappeared now at my location.

Howdy,

Since I last operated on Friday, yesterday and today I noticed a very strong noise level increase on all bands 80m to 6m on all 3 antennas (OCFD Vee, AV640 vertical and Steppir).

Noise is S7 to S9 with the noise blanker and noise reduction turned off. It's a raspy buzz -- yes sounds like 60Hz.

There have been no equipment changes here.

Before I go tearing into analysis: turning everything in the house off & operating from a battery, etc, is anyone else in our area noticing the same problem?

Thanks Rich
