Hi Russ,

The club has been meeting at the hospital for many years.  When Covid-19 showed up in early 2020, we lost the ability to meet there.  We met on Zoom only for a while, then we met at a restaurant in Coral Springs for a while.

When the restaurant situation became untenable, because of Karaoke next door, we had to move again.  Fred WB4BAG, a member, offered the club to meet at his QTH, we were thrilled.  Many members were not so thrilled since we have many members in Palm Beach County and even further north. We only had an average of 10 or so members showing up at Fred's since it was such a long drive for the members up north.  Normally we would have around 20 members attending. The hospital is located in central Broward and it is the best compromise for our membership, which is located in the tri-county area of South Florida.

Our club station is also located there on the 5th floor, with antennas on the roof.  Members would sometimes meet at the club station after the meeting and play some radio.

The DCARC membership is very localized and Fred's place makes a lot of sense for that club.  SFDXA membership is much more spread out and it is impossible to be near everyone.

I hope you understand and can make it to the meeting tomorrow!

Very 73,
Randy N4QV
President SFDXA

Good morning Randy, I am a newer member to the group and wanted to ask why the meetings won't be held in Davie or Cooper city? I read your last post to the group about the may meeting and see that the meetings were held off of West Oakland Park Boulevard pre pandemic. It just seems out of the way. When I lived in Las Vegas and I was a member of an amateur radio group we held our meetings at a local IHOP within the city of Las Vegas. Thanks for any input.
