Great news everyone!

SFDXA has been approved to again have our meetings at the Florida Medical Center!

I want to thank Doreen Jamison for her efforts to make this happen!

I have had a few members that were much more interested in the Broward College facility, since it is a bit easier to get to from the north.  There is no reason we cannot move in that direction in the future if a majority of the membership wants it.  There are other hurdles to overcome in order the meet at that facility, if that is something the membership wants to move forward on. 

This, however, is a huge step and I think many more members will be attending!

I also want to thank Fred Perkins WB4BAG for his hospitality and allowing us to meet at his facility while we were in limbo.

Hi Doreen,

It was a pleasure to speak with you the other day.

As you are aware, the South Florida DX Association, a non-profit amateur radio club, has been meeting in the FMC auditorium for many years prior to Covid-19.  When Covid came around, meetings were discouraged and the Hospital was closed to our meetings for safety reasons. 

I understand that Dr. Edward Dauer was one of the founders of FMC and served as Director of Radiology for many years.  He is a member of our club and he was instrumental in arranging for the club to meet at FMC for many years.    

Since Covid-19, the club has been meeting in restaurants and other facilities that were not nearly as centrally located as FMC.  Many members are discouraged from coming to the meetings since they were being held in geographically inconvenient locations.

This is a formal request to again meet in the FMC auditorium. 

Our meetings are on the 1st Wednesday of every other month from 7:00PM to 9:00PM
Our remaining meeting dates for 2024 are:
    March 6, 2024
    May 1, 2024
    July 3, 2024
    September 4, 2024
    November 6, 2024

We have an average of 20 members that attend the meetings.  The club brings our own A/V equipment and anything else needed for the meetings.  Of course, as we have always done in the past, the club leaves the auditorium exactly as we found it.  We are very strict about that!

In the past, we were honored to meet at such a fine facility, that was very convenient for our membership, and we very much appreciated the generosity of Florida Medical Center.
