The open house for the South Florida DX Association
was a success.
We had .. attendees. Many were seeing contesting and DXing for the
first time in person. Everyone enjoyed themselves as Jeff WB3ISP
made contacts in the CQWW Phone contest. We offered others the
chance to make contacts but most were satisfied to watch. Kevin,
W1OM did a great job, making several contacts with his call.
The attendees were as follows:
N4QV Randy
WB3ISP Jeff
WB4EHG Rich
N4BJC Betty
W4BAE Bruce
KO4SYU Dan
N8XH George
W1OM Kevin
KQ4CKB Marty
I hope I didn't miss anyone!
I stayed after the open house on Saturday and made some contacts,
and I returned on Sunday to put in 6 hours.
It was a casual effort but conditions were good and we did quite
well. Below is the report:

Comments:
As I am trying to get more interest in contesting and DXing from
local club
members, we held an open house at the South Florida DX Association
club station,
K4FK. Jeff, WB5ISP, made some contacts while some newer hams
visited the open house on
Saturday. I stayed after the open house and made some contacts
Saturday and I
returned Sunday to put in 6 additional hours. Conditions were
quite good both
days and the visitors enjoyed themselves. It was, of course, a
casual part time
effort, but everyone enjoyed themselves.
The station consist of a Kilowatt to a HyGain TH-11 at 110 feet
and an inverted
V on 40 at 100 feet. Our 80-160 antennas are currently inoperable
since FT8
smoked the balun! I look forward to more participation in the
future!
Randy, N4QV, President of SFDXA
