Howdy DXers,
I'm long overdue for some of the latest news. I have been
catching up on all of the things related to my dad's estate,
searching for and buying a set of wheels, friends unloading a
living room full of PA equipment for me to work on, and I got sick
last Friday because I was under stress and not getting enough
rest, That flu bug floating around is pretty nasty. I finally
started feeling halfway normal yesterday but I spent the whole day
on the phone, reading Prospectuses and going to the bank and
wiring funds, investing into a private (pre IPO) investment.
As I mentioned before... some good stuff and some not so good!
Here is the news:
The "not so good!"
1) Dan AI4CJ has resigned as our Treasurer. He has done a
wonderful job for our club and I sincerely appreciate his
efforts. Since his stroke and his recovery, he feels that he is
not up the task, however I thought he was doing a fine job. I
respect Dan's feelings and have accepted his graceful resignation.
We will need a new Treasurer. Hopefully we can fill the position
starting next year. I'm open to volunteers! 😉 The position is
pretty simple since there is only a peak in activity in December
and January during the acceptance of dues, and the club has few
expenses to be paid throughout the year. We are not meeting at
the hospital any more so the acceptance of donations from the meal
tickets is no longer a burden.
Since I am the only other signer on the
account, I have taken over the responsibilities of that position
for now. I have scanned in all statements for electronic storage,
going back to 2010. If anyone has club expenses and needs
reimbursement, please contact me.
2) We need a speaker for the September meeting. I had anticipated
having Bob Heil as our presenter. As I sent out earlier, he has
had some health issues. I understand that his schedule for
presentations has been put on hold. I will give Tim Duffy, K3LR
of DX Engineering, a call and see if he is available. I am open
to any other ideas or options.
The "good stuff!"
1) Jeff WB3ISP and I spent some time at K4FK and noticed an RJ45
connector in the room! Jeff opened a service ticket with the IT
department to see if we can get internet connectivity there. More
updates coming as we receive them.
2) I replaced the monitor at K4FK. A few months ago, while I was
playing some FT8, the existing monitor made a pop and started
smoking! I quickly disconnected it. Later I loaned the club a
small monitor that I had, as a temporary solution. I purchased a
used 27" monitor for the club for $80 and recently placed it into
service. It's a big upgrade!
3) Jeff WB3ISP and I spoke with Sebastian W4AS in efforts to
improve and update the website. It is a work in progress and I
will have updates at the September meeting in about 2.5 weeks on
Wednesday September 6th.
More updates coming.
Very 73 to all,
Randy N4QV
President and current Treasurer 😉
