Hope this post finds you all well,
I wanted to post the email I sent to Steve N2AJ today, for the members of the SFDXA, to read. Steven is the Media reporter of the 3Y0J DX expedition.

Hi Steve, N2AJ
3Y0J Media reporter,

Hope you're doing well, thanks for all your great support for the team on Bouvet!

I saw some comments on Facebook, about MSHV and F/H.

If the team switched to MSHV as some think that is not what the team said they were going to use based on the 3Y0J site. So, I don't think they are using MSHV, my thoughts are we are being out FOXED with many pirates using MSHV making false QSO contacts. I worked a pirate 30M FT8 myself last night looking back at the exchanges, and noticed that I was TX on even, that is not the correct cycle hound with WSJT-X in F/H. I must of had a FT8 QSO with a pirate too as many others reported last evening who had to be using MSHV to TX on the odd cycle. The pirates have the upper hand with us all not having real time information from the 3Y0J team, like viewing real time logs, what band or mode they are working, ecta. and I know that is not possible from that location.

I think DX expeditions moving forward, will need to have some kind of real time reporting being sent from their activated sites, the spots are useless on the all-cluster systems as we all know from the past few days. Without the team's logs, we have no idea if we worked a pirate or the real 3Y0J team. Sadly, for me this expedition will not be the hopeful activation wind-fall for ham radio we all had all hoped. It is not the fault of the team, just the horrible conditions they had landing on the island and then making it worse for everyone are the pirates just wanting to interrupt the DX expeditions QSOs!

I will not be funding any DX expeditions in the future, unless there is a planned real time data reporting system being used at the start of the DX activation. Some of the most recent DX expeditions I had QSOs with were using Clublog with a new real time reporting system of the bands and modes and real time logging. If something like that could be linked to a DX expedition, then that changes the playing field in our odds over the pirates.

I don't have sour grapes, I just know after experiencing this mess the past week and spending countless hours the past week, trying to make a contact with 3Y0J ATNO for me, I know there needs to be more technology used to keep us informed, we need to know when the pirates are swirling around us!

Good DX and Best of 73s,
