Florida has a network of 70cm repeaters along I95, I75 and the Turnpike and others, It's called SARNET (Statewide Amateur Radio Networking in Florida).

The hams in the north part of the state get involved in weather events. There us usually a "control" station (K4NRD) who makes announcements and collects reports.

I just turned my radios on and decided to listen as the day goes on and the storm churns on. There will be periods of quiet since the storm is still approaching land fall.

We can copy two of the repeaters: Andytown (you know where Andytown is, right?) on 442.825MHz and Ft. Lauderdale on 442.850

You should be able to receive one of them on your HT.

Please, stay off their network, listen only.
