So, another story of a problem I had so that you don't have the same problem.
Two weeks ago I upgraded my cell phone to a Google Pixel 6 Pro
which is 5G capable. {I didn't care about the 5G ability}
I got reports from friends that the voice message for when I
didn't answer the phone said that my phone was lost and to call my
land line number. (Diane's out of town so I could not use her
phone to test.)
That number has not been mine for over 5 years. I guess somewhere
there is another annoyed ATT subscriber.
I changed it, it changed back. I went to the ATT store (Flamingo & Sunrise) , they changed it and it changed back.
Second trip to ATT store, their customer service call center changed it. It changed back.
Third trip to ATT store yesterday and I refused to leave till they fixed it.
Their tech finally figured out that the SIM card needs to be
changed to a 5G version. I received the phone via mail and it
didn't come with a SIM card so I used the one from my old phone.
Changing to a new SIM card fixed the problem (so far). I got a text message overnight that other account changes were being made because of the new SIM. Who knows what that will break.
Anyway, you have been warned.
