This for sure is some sad news. When I got to the USA to attend college, Don invited me to a meeting at the SFDXA, and the rest was history. Great CW Operator, one time we both competed in a CW pileup contest at the old WPB Hamfest, and sure he kicked my rear end hi hi... Another great one is gone.

I considered him a good friend and I was hoping to see him at the end of April when I attended the FOC  gathering in Fredricksbug, TX which is where he lived with his wife Gabrielle.

I'm going to miss talking to him about the old days.

For the newer SFDXA members, Don was the president of the club for a few years and was, along with Pete, at all of the Antenna Busters projects.

Don Murray, W4WJ - #2102, passed this weekend. He had recently been hospitalized for two months from complications from myasthenia gravis. He had recovered and was at home for over a month when he developed internal bleeding. After receiving five units of blood he went into cardiac arrest and passed.

 

Many of you know Don from his very active first long-time FOC membership. When he moved to Texas he let his membership drop  for a number of reasons but became active again several years ago. The Club membership roster shows Don to have held the following calls: K4FMA BV0W K2USA G5DAD ET3FMA 9E3FMA 9F3FMA.
