Howdy DXers!

The CQWW Phone is this weekend!  This is a terrific opportunity to add to you DXCC totals and/or Challenge (Band Countries).  The Contest starts at 0000 UTC or 8:00 PM local time.  We are expecting better conditions than in the depths of the solar flux lows that have been with us in the last few years.  There is coronal ejection expected to hit us Saturday which could hurt propagation Saturday.  However you really never know until it hits to see what the results are.

This is one of my favorite contests.  If you enjoy contesting, don't miss it.  If you are new to contesting, please stick your toe into the water and try it out.  There will be many big gun stations on, that have great ears and can hear small stations... even mobiles.  I use N1MM+ software for the contest and it makes logging painless.

For rules, go to the CQWW site:  https://www.cqww.com/

Below I have forwarded the announcement from Florida Contest Group.  If you are not a member of FCG and you enjoy yourself this weekend, you might join the club as well.  There are many great DXers in that club.

If you have any questions, please contact me.  I have many certificates in my years of playing in this contest!

Let's have some fun!

Very 73 to all,
Randy N4QV

Subject: [FCG] CQWW SSB This Weekend

Clearly my priorities lie elsewhere because I realized thai morning that I hadn't made any attempt to send a note to the reflector about CQWW SSB. Couple of tweaks to this contest:

1. Our panhandle members as far west as the Panama City area are within the larger CQ club circle for this contest, so I hope to see good scores from NF4A and K4SBZ and others in that neck of the woods. Unfortunately we don't have a circle large enough to take in Pensacola and N4OX in the far western panhandle, but we'll be thinking of Jay fondly and hope to hear him in the pileups this weekend.

2. The flux is up to 113 as of this morning, and the X1-class flare that came off the sun yesterday is projected to affect propagation on Sunday-only, so make hay on Saturday as much as possible. I'm told that 10m and 12m have been very good long path into Asia on FT8 in recent mornings; hopefully that same propagation holds on 15m and 10m on SSB.

3. Bonus tweak - after an edition of CQWW last year that had almost no DXPeditions, Caribbean DXPeditions are back on this weekend, with a number of folks on from that part of the world.

FCG Activity (and other activity of interest) by memory. Corrections and additions welcome

PJ4K - M/2? K1XX, W1MD, N6KT, others?
J68HZ - M/S W0CN + others
PJ2T - M/? I've heard PJ2/KL2A on several times on CW this week, so I know at least one person is on-site. I'm sure they're planning a Multi-2 or Multi-Multi effort
KP3Z - N6MJ, N4YDU, NP4Z, maybe another? M/S is the rumor
V26B - I've heard N3OC on from the V26B station in a couple of CWTs this week. I'm sure they're planning M/S or M/2 with the usual mixture of FRC and PVRC ops
P40W - W2GD is using the P40L station this weekend
HD8R - a bunch of Italian and Spanish hams, along with a couple of locals, are activating HC8 for the first time in a few years. I worked them on 15m CW and heard them on a number of other bands this week. I wonder if they're at the old HC8N/HC8GR site or if there's a new station going up on the island

AD4ES - M/S + W4SO

N6AR - SOAB(A)HP
K0LUZ - SOAB(A)HP P/T
K1MM - SOSB(A)10m HP @ N4WW
N4BP - SOSB(A)?m HP
NF4A - SOAB(A)HP P/T
N4AO - SOABLP (WC4E)
K4SBZ - SOAB(A)HP
K5KG - SOAB(A)HP P/T
W4LT - SOAB(A)LP P/T Remote
N4UU - SOAB(A)HP P/T
W4WF - SOAB(A)20m HP @ N4WW (Sunday-only as of now...hope the flare doesn't wipe propagation out!)
NN4X - SOAB(A)HP P/T
AA8R - SOAB?P
K8MR - SOABLP at the Condo for the winter

73/OJ,
Chris W4WF
