Howdy Everyone!
The first annual "South Florida DX Association Fall Picnic" is here! I
say "annual" since we should do this every year!
We have had picnics in the past years and it's time to start them back
up. In the past we held the events at Markham Park in western Sunrise.
This event is being held at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach. We
have many members north of Fort Lauderdale in Palm Beach County and even
farther north. This location will hopefully bring in more members from
up north that have not been attending the regular meetings.
South Florida DX Association Picnic
Location: Quiet Waters Park
Shelter "I" (Ibis)
401 South Powerline Road
Deerfield Beach, FL 33442
Date: Sunday, October 20th, 2024
Time: 12:00-16:00
Directions:
The park is a big one! Enter at the main entrance (Address above).
After going through the gate, turn right. You will travel approximately
1.1 miles on the main road. You will go by the water park on the left
and later, through a lockable gate. The parking for Shelter "I" is
approximately 1000 feet beyond the lockable gate, on the left. There
will be a sign saying SFDXA Picnic.
The picnic will be free, since the club is in good financial shape and
we are encouraging everyone, members, prospective members, members of
other clubs and curious non-members to attend.
The food will be provided. Currently we are talking about hot dogs,
sausages, and burgers with baked beans, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese.
We will set up a portable HF station for those prospective members
interested in HF. We will be set up to demonstrate phone, digital and
CW contacts. Unfortunately, we cannot post this as a "Parks on the Air"
event, since it is a county park and not a federal park. It will still
be fun.
Please RSVP to me so that we have enough food for everyone!
I look forward to seeing everyone there!
Very 73,
Randy N4QV
President South Florida DX Association
