Amateur Operators in the South Florida Section,
I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for everything
you accomplished during the recent disruptive events in Florida. Your
commitment to checking in to nets, training, and honing your skills
truly paid off.
As KC1FLU, the Corresponding Secretary of the Fort Myers Club,
eloquently stated, "Being associated with those dedicated to the safety
and well-being of others at the expense of their own time is what
separates hams from the masses." I couldn't agree more.
I also want to share a message from the National Weather Service
Melbourne Office:
"While our partners continue to assess the damage in our communities, we
want to express appreciation for everyone's efforts throughout this
event! THANK YOU to our public safety, emergency management, media,
SKYWARN, and amateur radio for helping our community prepare for one of
the most impactful events in our office's history. We’re truly grateful
for our partnerships during emergency events like Milton!"
Our ability to work effectively with community partners underscores the
essential role amateur radio plays in providing situational awareness
and facilitating inter-group communications. We are adaptable, equipped
with diverse tools, and consistently train to ensure we can deliver
communications even in challenging circumstances.
Thank you for allowing me to say that we are proud, volunteer amateur
radio operators who genuinely make a difference in the lives of those in
our communities.
73,
Barry KB1PA ARRL SFL Section Manager
