I don’t think it has been done by government lawyers. More likely shiny bum clerks.
They are certainly dumbing down the amateur service.
Now your call sign no longer defines what state you are in (VK2,3 etc) and the subsequent letters no longer define your licence level. And they have removed the online database lookup. Privacy you know. So if they are not on QRZ, you can’t look them up, you can’t find their licence level and you have no idea where they are.
