I hope this new year finds everyone doing well.
I have been battling Myasthenia Gravis, and its a slow
process, but I am slowly improving. I am making club
visits via zoom, and enjoying it. If you would like to set up a meeting,
please let me know. The BEST email address
to use is:
KB1PA at arrl.net the arrl.org addresses have been having
problems. also, if you need to contact Jeff Beals, WA4AW, please use
WA4AW at arrl.net
As it is the first of the year, all ARRL clubs are requested to update
their club info on the ARRL web site. Club officers
should have the ability to make changes. You can find your listing
at http://www.arrl.org/find-a-club and search in the Southern Florida
Section list. If you need help, please let me know.
I would like to announce that Jim Schilling, KG4JSZ, and Ryan
Krenzischek, W4NTR, have agreed to serve as Assistant Section Managers
and Tom Dussault, K1NEW, has been appointed ARES® Emergency Coordinator
for Collier County. HUGE thanks to Larry Kielasa, N4LAK, for all his
hard work as Collier County EC.
Have any of you done ARRL National Traffic System (NTS) traffic
handling? If not it is a skill worthy of learning, Listen to a local NTS
net to see how it's done. It is a skill that is fundamental to our
hobby/service. It's the main reason ARRL was formed (as American Radio
Relay League). There
are very few groups that can perform this function when things turn bad
and Amateur Radio Operators practice this skill every day.
If you have any questions, please email me.
Please keep up the hard work promoting Amateur Radio, and remember to
have fun with radio and learn something new every day.
Barry
