My apologies (to you and G&S). It was just an itch I had to scratch./
/
I am the very model of a modern Morse code contester
I remember all the calls I've worked from Bangalore to Worchester
In all the clubs and contest groups I've been honoured with investiture
And my scores improve a little bit with every new expenditure
I never miss a little trick to save a tiny interval
Slowing down to 35 is certainly unthinkable
I have 3 antennas on each band, my neighbours are hysterical
And I'll score points in any way that's deemed to be admissible.
I get depressed and anxious any day I've not be on the air
My spine is curved and fingers numb with many hours of bum in chair
I am in the shack all day and night while seated in my underwear
And my family goes about their day as if I wasn't really there
A top contester in radio is everything I want to be
I can live on nothing else at all but chocolate bars and cups of tea,
I can sit for hours and hours and never have to take pee
And make a thousand contacts without ever having touched my key
It is very well to call my ruthlessness detestable
That stepping on another call is somehow unacceptable
Or signing every half hour is a practice not respectable
But my QSO rate would indicate my strategy unquestionable
I call CQ on 2 bands and search 3 others at my leisure
I cut spacing and all numbers sent because it makes my scoring better
So no matter what my rivals say or however much they pout and pester
I am the very model of a modern Morse code contester!
73,
Chris VE.....
