/A note I received from Uwe...//
/

/Bill,//
//Maybe one more information for you: My wsjt-x_improved v2.4.0 versions
are without any time limitation. (Like for the original wsjtx,
v2.5.0-rc1 is at beta level, therefore the splash screen.) For FT8, FT4,
MSK144, JT65, JT9, FST4 and FST4w v2.4.0 is IDENTICAL with v2.5.0-rc1.
The only advantage of v2.5.0-rc1 is Joe's slightly improved decoder for
Q65 (+ the bundled new MAP65 version, but that is only relevant for EME).//
//This means just in case I am not able to continue my programming work,
with v2.4.0 you have a fully operational alternative./

//

/Feel free to share all this information with your fellow ham radio
operators./

For a couple of weeks now I've been using an improved version of WSJT-x
by DG2YCB. He has several versions.

The initial one adds the mode functionality to the front screen and a
"hop" feature. And some other simple additions. I recently upgraded the
WSJT-x and wondered if it would follow and it did. I don't know why but
I hope that continues... At the download location there are a few other
more extensive modifications...involving layout changes and some for
other modes. I am using the ALT (alternate layout) version which suites
me(Pictured Below). I size and relocate JTAlert and DXTelnet and then
lock all positions. When I bring them up they return to that spot
conveniently.

I don't know if future versions will all work similarly, but so far so
good. Below is the Download location(sourgeforce) and there are simple
description notes on that page regarding them he has written.

Uwe DG2YCB has been hospitalized and I wish him well but he kindly
responded to some questions I asked.

His descriptions on the site included the caveats. I've had no issues.
If you have a Virus Protection it probably will trigger it. I ignored it
and all is working fine with no monsters in my  machine. In an email to
me he said to load the different versions in separate directories. So
you can compare if you like. If anyone is interested I'll send that note
or send it to the group shortly based on needs. The ALT version did all
I wanted to make some of the wasted space on the WSJT-x screen more
efficient.
